A HOMAGE TO VENICE AND ITS CITIZENS FOR THE FEAST OF THE REDEEMER

During the “Festa del Redentore”, one of the most popular Venetian feast, which will be held in town the next weekend (July 15 and16), VivaVivaldi will offer all Venetians free entry to the show on Thursday 13 and Friday 14, from 4pm to 8pm. This is how VivaVivaldi intends to celebrate the feast, by moving closer to the local community and all citizens and giving free access to the show for an entire afternoon to all people living in the municipality of Venice.

The “Festa del Redentore” is a large event held in Venice the third Sunday of July to remember the building of a magnificent church, known as ‘Il Redentore’, commissioned by the Venetian Senate as an ‘ex- voto’ for the ending of the plague of 1575-1577. A bridge for pilgrims was built at the end of the plague, to hold annual celebrations. This tradition has been existing for five centuries now. During the event, a bridge of barges is built connecting Piazza San Marco to the church of ‘Il Redentore’, so that the procession of the faithful can cross the bridge and thank the Redeemer for the end of the plague tragedy.
On July 15 and 16, a rich agenda takes place combining religious celebrations with shows, emotions and entertainment.
